Celebrating 30 Years of Autocare Centre Chepstow

On May 3^rd 2020, we are delighted to be celebrating 30 years of Autocare Centre Chepstow. As a business, we have faced many challenges along our years of trading, but these are certainly the most unusual times we have celebrated an anniversary in.

How It All Began

Autocare Centre Chepstow was founded on May 3^rd 1990 by Bill & Dee Harper, both of which still run and manage the business today. Bill started out as an apprentice at a Vauxhall main dealership in Bristol in 1972 and has been in the motor trade all of his life.

At the time of opening the garage, Dee was still working full time as a credit controller at a building merchant in Bristol, doing paperwork in the weekends and evenings. As the garage began to get busier, it became their sole focus.

The garage was based on Bulwark road for 10 years before moving to a larger unit in Bulwark business park in 2000, this is where the garage is still based today.

BOSCH Approved Garage  

As a garage we have had an affiliation with BOSCH Car Services since 1992, specialising in MOT, servicing and diagnostics. To this day, we are a BOSCH approved garage, assuring customers that all work is done to a high standard by a trained technician using quality, original parts.

Since then, we have attained several extra accreditations for the benefit of our garage users including RAC Approved Garage status, IMI Certification, Foxy Lady Garage and Motor Industry Code of Practice for Repair and Service.

Ongoing Investment in Training & Equipment

Since the early days, we have always believed in the need to invest in the latest training equipment for our technicians, allowing us to expand our service offering and give customers peace of mind.

In early 2019, we became an IMI qualified repair centre for electric & plugin hybrid vehicles, giving our technicians the skills required to carry out complete servicing, repairs and maintenance on electric vehicles including high voltage components.

There are very few independent garages who have the specialist tools and skills required to carry out works on electric vehicles, we are proud to have committed to this area of expertise to give drivers an alternative to expensive dealerships.

Giving Back

Part of our ethos has always been about giving back to the wider community. In late 2019, we donated a vehicle to a local animal sanctuary after their old car failed its MOT and required more remedial work than the vehicle was worth. Earlier this year, we also sponsored a kayaker who was raising money for the Teddy Bear Children Support charity.
